A couple of weeks ago I posted a duckling "laughing", well the last day I got a chance to take some more portraits of the little guys and they've grown...

Any C&C would be great! :D

That would you believe was the whole point! I was looking for a new subject, something to make me smile, these lads fitted the bill! They were great subjects, so funny and full of life :p they'd run from you, turn then hiss and go for you - great evenings entertainment! :D

Made an awful mess to clean up though! :(

Naaa, they don't let you get too close. Understandably you have to let them wander around for a while and get used to the surroundings. Then try for the shots. You have to be careful though, can't let them get stressed or upset.

65mm for the first, 100mm for the second, F5

    Any C&C at all?

Are the eyes sharp enough etc? This was my first real chance at taking animal/bird portraits so I'm trying to find ways to improve!! :D

You see I’m hoping to have another go next week, after that they’ll have gotten too big. Then that’s it until the next batch start hatching next summer!!

Well I think you got the DoF just right, the white background feels somewhat unnatural but then again with the first two images it adds to the fun element of a human studio shoot but with ducks.

I think they're both quite lovely shots (nice smiles!) but imo the grey wall/background does dull the frame quite a bit, love to see similar shots taken outside, or at least with a slightly more natural backdrop.
