What do you use your lenses for?

Considering most people here will be packing a dslr or two, what lenses do you commonly use/associate with different things?

Myself, used to use the stock lens 18-55 canon for landscapes etc, used the 28-300 sigma as a walkaround, and the 75-300 USM canon for motorsport/horse racing, birds, wildlife etc, general action and fast moving things etc. My 50mm prime for streeto photography, people, interesting subjects and various arty farty dof shots.

Recently though, have been using the 75-300 for lots of work (used it for 80% of the shots in my recent C&C thread, aswell as the 50 for a odd reason, but it turned out to be one of me favourites!

hopefully will have a 50mm within 2 weeks anyway

Everything for everything. 28-70/4 almost all of the time, after that 50/2, 28/2.4 and some times 80-200 to get things closer or better. Doesn;t matter what is the subject, it only depends on my "previsualization" or fighting lazyness to change lenses and to be more creative :-)

    I own the following:

18-55 - rarely. Portraits. Some close up stuff
10-20 - getting kites into kitesurfing and landboarding shots. occasional landscape and buildings
70-300 - some sports stuff some landscape stuff
50-500 - mainly sports stuff, occasionally moon shots.

    hope this helps.

used to use the 50mm f2 macro for macro work - it's not superb for shots focussed further out, but them i got the 90mm f2 macro, which is superb across the range, macro to candids/portraits.
50mm f1.4 for low light work, also candids, and the 24mm f2.8 for landscapes. 350mm f5.6 mirror for long work.
my zooms are there purely to make the camera bag heavier.

    Hmmm ... let me see

    (all Canon)

    10-22mm - landscapes, wide street
24-70mm - portraits, landscape, general usage
    50mm - portraits, street stuff
    70-200mm - sport, wildlife
    100mm - macro, portraits
    100-400mm - sport, wildlife

I think that covers most of my usage and lenses.
