basically the problem is that the picture freezes/pixelated/no signal on the channels on 11.654.

the channels affected are scuzz, bliss, minx, anime central and a couple of others.

has anyone else had problems with any of these channels or is it a me specific problem.
we have 2 sky+ boxes and i swapped all the cables around on the dish, left the boxes unplugged for 10min and all to no effect.

can anyone shed some light on what might be wrong?

    11.642

check the skew of the LNB, bit error rate can be high on this transponder (relative to other transponders) if the dish is not correctly aligned.

    two things:

    1. since you have put the frequency as 11.642, i assume i have it wrong and,

    2. skew? how do i know if the skew is right or wrong. i would assume that it is reasonably correct since all the other channels are perfect and why would the skew change? these channels were ok up to about 2 weeks ago (i think)

it 11.642 on my listings anyway:)
now you never said the it was working up to 2 weeks ago so I had to work with what was posted. you have swapped cables and you have checked both boxes, also i assumed that the problem is on both boxes. with that information I would think its a dish problem or maybe an obstruction between the dish an the satellite.
is this a constant problem, ie day and night and have you checked other channels to see if the problem is there or are these the only channels affected.

the problem is on both boxes. during the day the channels are watchable ie. they only freeze every 10-15sec but normally around 9 they just go completely. can't really pinpoint the time (they are ok at lunch and its not til 9 that i look again)
all the other channels are fine

at this stage I think you should call out your satellite installer, there could be so many reasons for this fault. At this stage I dont think there is anyhing that you can do to resolve it yourself.
I still feel that the dish is the source of the problem, we can more or less eliminate mains, lighting, cabling, Set top box. so you are down to dish or obstruction.

You Dont have a wireless router nearby do you.

I have this problem too so i unplugged my wireless router and it went.I think its due to poor quality cable also. Its cheap rg6 i think ill replace it with wf100.

hi Karl, I have never seen this problem with wifi, but i have seen it countless times with wireless CPE located too near the dish. just out of interest is your BB via CPE.

yes there is a wifi radio receiver about 5m away from the dish on the roof and the is a wifi router within 2m of the sky+ box that i'm having the problems with

ok, so i unplugged the radio receiver on the roof and the wifi router but to no avail. so that mustn't be whats effecting it

i have readded the channels numerous times to no avail

Dont re-add them (By entering data manually), go do an automatic scan and it will reload all channels into the box. (sometimes it brings up one or two new ones)

how do i do that? (yes i am that stupid, please elaborate)

its unlightly that that is the problem on two boxes at the same time on the same channels. at worst you have a stray carrier sitting on top of the transponder frequency, but I still feel the dish needs to be looked at.

Same thing happened to me. I discovered the problem was my cordless phone. It is placed close to my sky+ box. When I unplugged the power to the phone the channels worked fine and as soon I plugged the phone in again the same channels began to freeze and pixelated.
Strange thing is the problem only began in the last 2 weeks and the phone has always been close to the sky+ box.

The DECT phone base station is the usual culprit. However, it could also be a car parked nearby with a "Snooper" radar detector, or a faulty street light.
