I am underway on a selfbuild and soon the walls will start , so i am planning for insulation of the roof and attic space
I was wondering has anyone used paroc rockwool as a roof and attic insulation. It is compacted in sheet form and looks much more user friendly as against the rolls of glass wool etc.

It looks like that's a 'no' then. :)
Have a look at the other thread entitled Cheapest Attic Insulation for some assistance.

I was at the self-build gig in P/town yday and have a bag of stuff to sort through: will post some links later on different resources for insulation.some of the literature is very good in dealing with the concepts involved.

[for the benefit of my detractors on this forum, i wont be recommending any of these links: i would hope for a democratic debate, as opposed to shooting the messenger]

Detractors aside, I expect you will provide us with links/references and not just the diluted information? :)

I recall about this time last year there was a debate on this topic and Viking House had some words of wisdom, [now that his ship is safe in Collins barracks he might add some more to the debate:) ] he is at

If I recall correctly his view was that the best sort of insulation is the sort found in dishwashers: it is a dense material, as opposed to the rigid kingspan type or the 'Super ten' multilayer foil types.

At the Punchestown show last week I spoke to a guy from Longford who was dealing in the spray on insulation for attic insulation. He will also quote me for pumping the cavity, we had planned on pumping the cavity with the pearl type pumped insulation...
Has anyone used or seen this spray on insulation in place??
I really like the idea of the complete fill/fit of these pumped/sprayed insulation products.
    Cheers
