Is the general standard of online play getting better or worse?

    What the title says.

I've heard differing opinions from lots of good on-line players. Personally I think cash game have become more difficult at the 1-2 and 2-4 level. Maybe there are players here who don't agree.

I am certain though that the standard of play in STTs and tournaments has gotten horrifically bad even at the higher buy-ins and this is not just as a result of more players getting in on satellites.

So which direction is it going?

If better will we get to the point where new players will need to be exceptional to get into the game?

If worse will we eventually get to the point where players are so bad that they're no better than a faeces throwing monkey pressing a mouse-pad?

i havent a clue whether its better or worse, all i know is that when i sit at any table, there is usually a wide chasm between the level of skill of the different players, regardless of cost to enter

i just take it as a given that they are all better than me and i need to be extra careful

it would be fair to say that i have a very limited skill base when it comes to playing poker, so with that in mind, when i win, its a massive bonus, when i lose, i know its my own fault for not studying the game enough

mind me fins, i need them to steer

the problem is the average player as got a lot better and there's now more better average players than 2 years ago and there's now a lot more really good players around, example been the 100 rebuy on stars. You need a very strong game to live with that game and a decent bankroll. So I think a lot of average players with no bank rolls are playing the lower levels. But if you watch the final 3 tables in most mtt's the standard is above average if not to good. So in general its easier to identify bad players, but harder to get there money as there's so many players chasing it that are now above average. Does this make sense...lol

Also STTs have died a death as its generally the same type of players and its ABC poker in general

I think it varies site to site.

But in general I find Mtts are getting more difficult and Cash easier.

cash is getting way tougher all the time. games are becoming tighter and lots of tight non spewy tags are moving up levels by the day

AGREED...will we ever see the old tribeca days again?

The good players are getting better and the bad players are getting luckier

Can't agree with you there at all. A year ago The higher buy in STTs were reserved for mostly only for very good players. Now they're full of clueless beginners jumping straight in at the $100 and $200 buy in level.

BELL KING is the highest earner from STTs on iPoker so far this year with over 33K in profit. I've played about 30 STTs with him and he's bloody terrible IMO, but because the average player is so terrible he's winning.
