Sky+ installed today, few questions remain

Just had sky+ installed today & in which i think was a good job, but a few questions remain!

    Phone cable:
Installer noticed i had cable from previous installation & said he had to fit new cable & fitted it to back of sky+ & went to phoneline to connect (i've a triple adaptor) so took out broadband cable & put that one in & left a trail of cable in hallway to box

I dont know whether he meant that & probably thought i'd disconnect & discard cable later in which i did as theyre was no room for it anyway :(

But thought differently later from below:

    Cable run:
Although it wasnt a normal installation to them as the dish was further back at the house instead of the side of house, the cable was hidden in some places, but thrown over a porch instead of tacked in (in which i saw later) & carried down further some unnoticed, its not really tidy or is that normal?

Although the extra cable didnt cost me-phew!, i had asked about how much cable i needed for the sky box in another room & quoted me about 20m, he gave it to me when he was leaving, when i'd forgotten how much i needed again ;)

Also he added in a few extra channels & i thought great it turned out to be the BBC's & ITV ch's  but i think that's normal is it?

Anyway it was more or less ok to me except for a few things, has it turned out the same for anyone or what does an installer think of it?

    Thanks

    Thanks

I think that we can re arrange that to....that is normal and it's not really tidy.

I would think that this is a standard installation from most of the Sky installers, there are excellent Sky installers out there as well. They are under so much time/motion preassure that any way to speed up the installation/ cut corners will do.
I have heard and seen worse, at least he did not charge you for the extra cable or tuning in the extra channels so he was fair on that.
He may not have been able to hide the cable run all the way, but he should have tacked it all the way. regarding your phone cable, depending on how you signed up (phone fee) i would check to see if you require that to be a permanent connection to the Sky box under your T&C's.

Yeah i was thinking of that, esp when they saw where the dish was!

Yeah i was worried about that, but they seemed pretty cool about that, as he said i had to sign a release form to verify the extra cable! phew!

Suppose you gotta take the rough with the smooth?

Yeah i had a phone already in, its just there was no room on the triple adaptor, but suppose i need a bigger adaptor? to comply with the T&C's especially since it was disconnected to enable my broadband as it was taking that spot :D

Also what are the conn's i need for the second box.

    Thanks.

In order to use an extra box, you should be able to run a cable from the quad lnblocated on the dish to the room you require, there should be two free spaces on the lnb so either will do. You then need an F connector for both ends of the cable.
