I'm going to have a shot in the dark and say freshers' week.

Narp, it's been in week 2 I believe. I think the mindset is so that it allows you time to get to know people. Saying that, Freshers' Week events will probably be sold out anyways.

And it's not really a ball. Was held in Spirit last year, where the Great Directo were playing.

    Is it a blacktie event?

Nah, but there will be plenty of them during college. Consider investing in a tux/suit. It'll save you the rental fees, especially for *unnamed balls*.

Republic of Loose and the Blizzards are playing as far as I know.

hopefully it's in tripod this year. Prob in spirit again but it could be in TBMC

BTW if you're looking for bands during freshers week, word on the street is there'll be a marquee with live music in it during the day on campus in freshers week. There'll also be a night with bands and a late DJ in radio city on the wednesday too, so if music's your thing, you'll be well covered.

The Blizzards are already playing Tripod tomorrow night for the UCD freshers ball, and I'm fairly certain they're playing the DIT one as well. Think the Delorentos are playing UCD too.

Whens this on? Do you need tickets?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,452 ✭✭✭Time Magazine

You'll be told about its time/location/line-up in Freshers' Week. Yeah, you'll need a ticket. They cost about €10 last year.

    10 Euro's grand. Could I bring a non-TCD friend?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,452 ✭✭✭Time Magazine

Yep. I did last year. No promises on the price, might be €15 etc.

Cool Ibid, thanks for the info!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,452 ✭✭✭Time Magazine

The tickets are out already? It's almost certainly over 18.

Damn. Was going to be a smartass and say continental Europe and some parts of Kerry and Cork where deer are present, but I was beaten to it. :(

Once again you have proven to be an informative bunch.

I wouldnt hold your breath for 10e tickets. it could happen if ents gets sponsored this year but if they dont then they could be 20euro a pop if rep of loose and blizzards are playing, which, i have it on good authority they are.

There should be nights to suit everyone over the first couple of weeks. the surf soc thursday free entry thing in doyles is always good, most of the club nights in freshers week are good though usually packed to capacity by greedy societies. Plus there'll be receptions and demos galore from all the clubs and socs looking for fresh members.

I am biased :p but do keep an eye our for beta bar on the wednesday. its coming together nicely: 3 bands, promos and a great DJ. Should only set you back 5/7e and the majority if not all the door money is going to charity(Cancer research/Trinity volunteers).

So is it a "must attend" night for freshers or something more optional? I don't really feel like paying €20 to see some crap bands(IMO) playing, but if everyone else is going....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,452 ✭✭✭Time Magazine

It's not a must attend. Its title is a more than a little bit misleading. It's another night out.
