My recent absence can be explained by two days trying to photograph an almost no wind kitesurfing competition in Portugal.

Following some discussion on flickr, this is this shot, with the horizon straightened and a frame and some cropping done.

    wow, that a fantastic shot!
I thought it looked a bit bright at first but on black its much better.
Thanks for sharing, and maybe you should watermark it a bit more obtrusively.

How could you come to that crop factor?!? Amazing. And the water is absolutely water-levelled! I love you, you know?
    :-)
No, seriously, I know that you would have done that as first thing after seiing such wonderful colours having more time.
And I haven't noticed - the kite has it's colour! Fantastic. I love that shot. Nope, I LOVE IT!

God ThOnda, be careful, bovril is just looking for a chance for revenge. :D

The crop just looks obvious to me when I'm doing them. I'm sorry. I can't explain it. the horizon is a doddle. Photoshop Elements has a tool which does it. Love it. It's even better than autocontrast.

No colour processing was done - the photograph is as compressed by the camera.

regard watermarking: I'm stuck in a major internal debate about putting these things on the web at all. I don't like watermarking per se but the pictures are getting better and the odd shot has walked to places I didn't expect them to go to so...yeah...

Woah. Fantastic. Even without the sun, that's just something else with the colours in the kite.

    Great picture.
I think the sun is a big part of it though.

The backlight on the kites make thia for me. It gives them a glow. Excellent shot!

    Thanks all of you.

    yes, a nice break...

the bit I like myself is the glow on the horizon.

Wow, great shot, I love it. The colours are just right, the sun, sky and the kites.
