As per another Thread, my old bike died - I had only just taxed it for the year, my new bike (secondhand) bike is not taxed yetas it was off the road for the last 6 months. Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer the tax like you can Insurance or a tax refund!! yes I know it is only around €37 but with this unexpected outlay for new bike all money is welcome :)

You cannot transfer tax disks, the only way you can get a refund on tax for any vehicle is to scrap it and surrender the registration / log book back to the DOE.

You could also get a declaration signed by the gardaí to state that the 2nd bike was off the road, and thereby exempt from tax for the 6 months. (know you can do this with cars, presume it can be done for bikes).
