very early in the night 8 handed and I'm on the BB Ad2d
1 limper (Marcus foreign chap with a Goatie - very tight but I wasn't fully aware of this at the time), Cut off raises to 12, SB calls as do I and Marcus.
    Flop 345 rainbow
SB checks, I bet 25, Marcus raises to 65 folded back to me (he's playing 660 and I easily cover)
I raise to 200 and after a small hesitation he pushes

    I?
In particular what do you make of my bet sizing?

So you're asking who you want to give opinions on the hand? Dont be picky!!

    Fold Preflop...

This is similar to Bottomfeeders post earlier. Theres no way on earth Marcus should have 67 here so i'm never folding. Easy call.

I like your bet sizing btw

From my experience I wouldn't class Marcus as 'very' tight. Your line looks good to me, I'd prolly lead out for 30 but other than that your bet sizing seems fine. As played, I call, he has a set a lot more often than the nuts here.

sorry Tony - opinions welcome from all

its just an equity calculation, what hands do you think he turns up with? When you make it 200 its about 450 back to you, giving you around 2:1. So you can call even if you are fairly sure you are beaten (you need 33% equity). If he only turns up with 67 here then you can obviously fold, but even if he only ever has 67s or one of the top two sets its a call, although a marginal one.

    Hand 1: 38.394% 37.09% 01.30% 44064 1548.00 { A2o }

The bet sizes seem fine but I don't really like the raise to 200, this bet seems designed to get rid of any hands you are crushing. Again i would just call the 65 unless I knew this guy is
    A) either so tight and predictable he will call my 4 bet with sets and push with straights or
    B) so bad that im happy getting it in here

well if hes tight ship ship ship as obv he's a donk with an overpair. if he has a wider range ie to include 67s etc, then i dont like the flop 3bet

Sorry Ian - my opinion 5 hours later would be that he was a bit of a rock but at that time I didnt have any real opinion on him.

Against Marcus I think you should get it in. He's a very nice guy to play poker with, but I think you can include AA in his range for that action. Which makes it a call I believe.

I like to know how hands turns out, also its a call if his range is just sets and straights, never mind aa

I couldn't fold this hand against anyone in the emporium.
Marcus is one of the more solid players on the live scene in Dublin however I have seen him get big stacks in bad from time to time. Call

I am never ever calling here againt said villian. You are never good when he shoves the flop like this.

He wont shove AA but will stack off over 3 streets with it if you give him the chance and also assuming the board doesnt come 4 to a straight/flush

Oh Jesus that Marcus. Yeah ship it in there all day. He has an overpair or a set like always. Id say he has 67 here 1% of the time. He is the biggets nit of all time.

Why do you want to ship it here all day against the biggest nit of all time?

Juts for future reference...fold if it was against me..i have 26 or 67 here a lot ;)

When I bet the flop I thought I saw something in his immediate reaction. When I bet the 200 I was probably folding to a push but when it came I almost called. I folded after maybe 4/5 minutes. He showed 67. I didnt show.
To be honest I wasn't entirely happy with the fold even after I seen the 67 if that makes sense.

you're all fools. Marcus has 67 like 80% of the time here. he flat calls with all sets and probably folds A2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,751 ✭✭✭BigCityBanker

^^not sure if ur levelling but i have said as much above. hence why i fold in this spot.

Marcus is GENIUNLY the biggest rock in Dublin-he rarely gets thAt much in without the goods. If he is losing he MIGHT do this with aa-if hes winning its ALWAYS a fold IMO.

The percentage is probably even higher! Your definetly right about the set, he'd flat call with top set on that board about 100% of the time.
