AK47 Beta with folding stock

I've used the folding stock Beta. The stock is quite strong and doesn't wobble much at all for a folder, just remember to always unlock it before you fold it. That's how most of them end up broken, people forgetting to hit the button.

Cheers Fiach, was it the JG one or a dirrerent brand?

It was JG alright. A good little carbine ;)

is that thing full metal, bar the furniture, reminds me of those minimachine guns battle orders used to sell years ago.
whats she like to handle, ie. would it be a good CQB piece?

It's an excellent CQB piece. With the stock unfolded it's very small, folded it's bloody tiny but it's range is excellent, better then the TM Beta. The reciever is plastic like on TM AK's and clone counterparts. The JG metal is good quality, better then CYMA but unlike CYMA's AK's and like TM's AK's the metals paint doesn't match the plastic body. A coat of matt black Krylon paint would sort that out though.

JG's Beta is really good value for the money.

With the stock folded out would it be the same overall length of the beta with a solid stock?

A little bit longer I think. The fixed stock Beta has a custom stock that's smaller then the real AK's, it can be a bit uncomfortable for some people to use. Having owned a TM Beta which I've now broken for parts and having used the JG folder Beta, I'd recommend the JG Beta.

Best pic ive found of it so far -

From what ive seen the batter goes in the top reciever like standard folding stock ak. But is it a standard 7 cell stick battery?
If so, fair play to JG for getting it to fit in there.

Yep it's a standard 8.4v stick battery. Actually JG didn't have to do anything at all, all TM type AK's will take the stick battery in the upper reciever. With some heavy modding to the gasblock trunion you could get a 9v stick in but it gets a good RoF with the 8.4v anyway.

*Edit* First thing to do if you get one is 86 the half mag in favour of full mags, they look a lot better in my opinion.

Yea i was thinking that to about the mag, but i wonder would the stock fold over a normal AK mag?
If so im gonna get some waffle mags for it.

    edit/

How much of the gun is actually metal, apart from the stock of course.

Yes the stock will fold over full mags. I was using waffles in the Beta and they look really cool ;)

    Was thinking about this
    http://www.gunnerairsoft.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=569&osCsid=e44fc9a3ebd8200f7719544ef0448eb1

for $135 its metal and wood, plus it looks pretty cool, in my humble opinion

Edit* just checked $57 shipping so only 140ish you do have to get a batt + charger but still not too bad for wood and metal job*

Never heard of Unicorn, are they any good?
Because that 74 looks the business.

    I've just ordered 3 of them :D

Unicorn are cloning Inokatsu's AK series kits, those kits range from $400-$1000. The Unicorn AKSU has all the sweet features of the likes of Inokatsu, G&G and VFC, the bolt carrier goes back all the way like the RS, correct stamped reciever that has been blued instead of just painted, battery compartment extends up to the front of the gasblock, side rail that can take RS optics.

Unicorn are only making the kits, not the AEG's. Fung on Gunners is building them himself with a 6.04 tightbore barrel and an upgraded CYMA gearbox. Not sure what hop-up he's using, probably Element.

haha nice, did you order from that site?
Gotta admit i had my mind made up on the beta until i seen the 74, not sure about the mag though.

Yep I ordered from Gunners. You have a large options of mags for the AKSU, Bakelite brown, Bakelite black or Bakelite plum. MAG offer boxes of 5 Bakelite mid-caps in all these colours, UNcompany sells the boxes for $34, good value.

Will it take standard ak mags to? Or are the bakelite ones a different shape.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Fiach Dubh

It may do, depends on the make of mag, some work in some AEG's, others don't. Also as far as being authentic AKSU's are 5.45mm not 7.62mm so metal AK47 mags and Waffle mags wouldn't work in it at all. When my Unicorn arrives I'll be able to test it with VFC, CYMA, TM, MAG and Star AK mags, I'll post on here which ones work.

The colour of the stock mag is all thats putting me off it, can of spray paint would probably fix that though.
