    I dont get ya?

If your phone supports mp2 ringtones you could just transfer them over via bluetooth (if they're MP3 format of course).

i know i could do it myself but im curious to see what itunes can do for me. see the ad:

    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

    "Ringtones
Turn songs from the iTunes Store into custom ringtones for your iPhone."

Read a little more of the website. You have to pay an extra 99c for the ringtone. Do you have an iPhone?

ah so it's just a gimmick. Nope dont have a ringtone. i thought it was a regular new feature of itunes as opposed to something you pay for.

    I dont get it.

My brother has a piece of crap old motorola phone, but he can still bluetooth over a few 1mb mp3 samples and set them as the ringtone.

So the iphone wont let you set an mp3 as your ringtone unless you pay 99 cent for it? Thats about as cynical as you can get.

I have used to Audio Hijack shareware to make some custom ringtones or alarm clock sounds for my mobile phone.
Nowadays I awake to riffs from Guns and Rose or The Who (Daniel O'Donnell doesn't really work).

Me thinks a lot of will will have to do with the music companies wanting to take more for the use of their music in the ringtones.
