    Just a quick one.

Just wondering can a binary version of an IP address be entered in a web browser?

I have attempted to place it in the address field of the browser to no avail.

I can't really see any use of doing this but was just curious as to whether it would work.

I did a quick check there, used google's ip address (64.233.167.104) converted to binary (00100000.11101001.10100111.01101000) didn't work...:(

a mac address is hex format. what i think he means is that instead of have 1.1.1.1 he wants 01.01.01.01 or 0001.0001.0001.0001. Its not possible as a web browser relies on decimal numbering system when dealing with ip address.

tried the same mate. (159.134.198.138) is the IP address for eircom and tried the binary form which is 10011111 10000110 11000110 10001010 and also tried the hex 9F 86 C6 8A and both did not work. The decimal TCPIP address did work 2676409994.

    You're feckin' loopers. :D

Check the source code for firefox. There's no way they're gonna be attempting to resolve anything other than normal 4 x 8 bit IP's or domains.
