well ive been using my pod and keyboard hooked up to my comp for a while, ive been conecting them via the mic port (pink 3.5" jack) on the back of the comp and it would record in mono... even with Y splitters for the keyboard... one left and one right...

So i tried the line in (blue 3.5" jack) and it has the sound in stereo and works great BUT cant seem to get the recording program to pickup the new signal from the line in as aposed to the mic... i have the line in unmuted on audio propeties and works aok though the headphones/speakers but cant seem to get the sound in recording programs even with some device settings and property editing...

anyone know how to use the line in (blue) into recording programs/anything!? ....same for the pod, i only have the left input hooked up and into the mic jack also in mono =/

also is there any reason to sue the figital out? (orange conection) not a stanrard 3.5" jack kinda sticks out a bit

ive a compaq presario from 2005/2006 relativly newish

You need to go into recording volume- Start, Accessories, Entertainment, Vol Control, Click options, properties, and then click the recording field. Go into this and tick the checkbox under Line In

i already tried that, i figured thats how it should work too but nope nothing when i play something and record it in sound recorder or my recording program, now if i mute the line in or change the volume i can hear the difference in my speakers alright but nothing else seems to pick it up

It works great where exactly? Can you hear the signal coming in through the line in, but just not record it?

The mutes in the audio properties only apply to playback, you need to go to the properties in the options menu and select the recording options. Then change the recording source to the line in - there can be only one recording source selected at a time. If that's failing to work, I'd look at the recording application you're using.

The digital out is usually a S/PDIF RCA phono connector. Though I don't think you have any grounds for taking legal action against it. ;)

wel i sorted it out a few days ago! jus didnt wana bump it up

and yes what u said was right, i was used to goin into audio proerties and ticking the box to muting things... when u go into recording options i was applying the same thing, so i didnt tick the box! (stupid i know)

for some reason on records in stereo but only on the left channell...it is weird, i went back to the mic input! easier and works a little better, thx anyways
