If I were to host a monthly tournaments for peanuts (it'd be for more social reasons rather than gambling) in my footie club and had no registration fee or no rake (just non-profit!), would that be illegal? If it is, then is there a way around it cos I’d imagine these licences would cost a bomb.

    Help would be appreciated :)

there are no licences. I think this would be very clearly legal.

So I m doing nothing wrong? Cos one guy asked me about it as to whether it was all above board and i was kinda put on the backfoot but i remember reading sumwhere a while back ago that it was illegal to charge a rake or commission without a license, so thats why we dont have rakes (not that we want to, its just a great way of gettin a load of us to bond together and not gettin drunk the night before a match)..

I want to get this verified by sum authority but who do i contact? Cos i dont want to be landed rite in it if it is actually illegal!!

as far as I am aware there is no real governing body covering this as it's still a grey area... it is not possible to buy a licence for this... some of the event organisers may confirm this for you but you are doing nothing illegal even if you charge a reg fee,.
