Not bad at all - at least there's be less ad breaks than Sky. I think even I can wait for three days to see Prison Break.

I did look for another thread on this before posting. :D

Thursday - it's up on Digiguide, I know it's not the RTE Guide but I always find it to be right.

So now all those double episodes make sense !!!

This is great news, glad they'll get to air it ahead of Sky.

they showed double episodes for season1 aswell, but it was more likely to get it shown before lost came back on and rte would be left red faced when prison break beat lost in the ratings ;)

Deadly!...no need for the cousin so...

well it is what RTE had to do, but the speed at which they will be able to show it after the american showing is spectacular. I mean to say, can anybody think of any major US show being shown less than a week after the american debut ??

After RTE lost out to sky over "lost", they really needed to pull this one out of the bag and I would love to see the deal they made with the american network. I know RTE and irish TV networks are treated differently in regard to SKY and british networks because of the range of the broadcast, but even so I would say sky is p**sed off right now, as they have lost almost all the irish viewership, and a big slice of ad revenue.

fair play RTE - now just get the home-grown drama & comedy right !!!

This years going to be a real kick in the teeth for the whole sky digital channel range in relation of us shows-losing prision break in ireland, losing heroes from sci fi channel to bbc2 etc.Be interesting see what skys response is.

Lets hope they don't stop showing it half way through and leave the rest for 4 months.

Sci Fi has nothing to do with Sky so I don't see why Sky would need to respond.

Channels having top shows is what attracts people to sky, therefore its not just the sky -owned channels they should be worried about

Well they'll have to take about a months break anyway half way through because there will be a break in america, think it's after 13 episodes

i'll continue to get it from my cousins. That way I wont have any ads and can watch it one day after the US

It's better for this board too that it's on RTE so soon after the US because there will be more posts as opposed to just people who get the eps off their "cousins".

Yes, the same will be happening with Stargate SGA, it will be on in america, UK and canada at the same time so does not matter where your cousins live everyone will have it around the same time.

    Sorry,

Season 1 took over 30 weeks to air 22 episodes
season 2 took over 29 weeks to air 21 episodes

It seems to me that if RTE skip a week every time the americanas do then there will be a combinded gap around the 10 week mark, probbley a annoying clif hanger as well.

One thing im going to enjoy is being able to talk to people in work about tv shows this year

Thats a pretty sh1tty reason to watch it on Sky. By all means, if you have HD or for any other reason watch it on Sky - who cares? But you should support your own country and watch it on RTE! For all the stick people give them I have mostly good things to say about them..especially when getting great shows like Prison Break, Lost etc.

Aaaanyway, great news! Can't wait for season 3!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

i assume basquille, we shall only have one thread for each episode instead of two this season considering the airings are so close to each other?

Let's take a look at this. People have been missing bits of Prison Break due to bad time keeping on RTÉ. Watching on RTÉ to "support your own country"? That imo is a ****ty reason.

I myself shall be watching on Tuesdays.

I think that is unfair Mossy, it's not 'bad' timekeeping. Its a knock on effect of doing a lot of live TV, news and sport coverage. It is easy for Sky one or similar to always be exactly on time since all the show are prerecorded programs that are run off a schedule system, when you show a lot of live programmes you can't use a system like this.

Certainly it could be done better, but you aren't comparing like with like imo.

What live programming do RTÉ Two show on a weekday? There isn't a whole lot.

actually a lot of the kids stuff is live including the news2day kids news and all the cafe and ttv inserts and I think the ICE show. Not saying it is an excuse but it is just not comparing like with like to compare RTÉ2 with Sky1 imo..

Other then Champions League RTE Two has very little live TV during the week. I don't think The Den or TTV should be an excuse for bad time keeping.

    Whats the ICE show?

I assume that RTE will replace Prison Break with Double Episodes of CSI on thursday nights when Prison Break goes for a Break?

Looking forward to ep tonight but i notice ratings in States for 1st ep were only 8 million, down almost 25 percent on ep 1 of season 2 on Fox.I Hope ratings don't fall much further over there when the other networks debut their new seasons next Monday 24th,we shall see.

that first episode kinda sucked, especially against season 1 and 2 openers. i really hope this isnt going to feel like a tacked on series.looks like sarah is already dead-ie shes not in new intro and wasnt in hostage video.

the 1st eppisode was disapointing but since i only saw season 2 finish on rte 2 3 weeks ago , i for one am not hungry for a new series just yet , i would have perferred to have had to wait untill next year
when michael said to lincoln after hed asked him to bust out someone in SONA , micheal,s response was , ah , not again
    TOUCHE
