Connecting a SNES

Hi, Is anybody having problems connecting old consoles (SNES) to new TV's? I'm trying to connect my SNES to a Phillips flat screen and nothing is coming up. I've tried using the RF cable provided (plugging directly from snes into my TV) and using the multi connector from my PS2 (although I wasn't surprised this didn't work) and I can't get picture or sound.

Any help would be appreciated tks
