A friend and I went out on a planned photo shoot.

Heres is just a few from the walk. We took them all within a mile radious of the same area and at the end, spotted a large bird across the river, and would he move for us? haha.

They were taken from 6pm untill 8pm in Listowel, co Kerry.

We're planning another trip to Ballybunion tonight around the same time so more to share.

This one was taken by a friend (above) who was out with me..

It's me setting up for a shot waiting for this huge fish we saw jumping in the water but failed to capture it.

the first four shots are quite cluttered; it's kinda hard to tell what the focal point is supposed to be.

1: A rock being splashed at by water.. diddn't think it would work but does for me?

2: I just think it looks cool to be honest.

3: All about color. see the red flowers to the left, and the reflection below?
    I like it..

4: Different colors of rocks sat on the water, kinda leads the eye upwards

The last one in the first post is the only decent one, in my eyes.
The others fail in the basic simple concepts of photography, focal point, composition etc.

Sometimes you have to ignore the 'concepts' of things and go with the flow..

A great example of ignoring concepts while keeping composition, have a look at these two.. I like them and there is no focal point in theory.

    Dodgy framing though ;)

Unlike some of last years stuff, having a focal point of something like this

I dunno but 2, 4, and 7 are quite pleasing to my eye. With a small bit of work, (brightness, contrast, etc..) number 4 might even go on a wall.

Ok, in fairness with 1 - I can't make much of it (sorry!) - maybe you'd gota be there?

With a bit of post processing / playing with it, 3 and 6 may work in a large format - they are more landscape photos with a lot compressed into the small space which leave them 'busy'.

Now for number 5 *detect sarcasm coming on* - if only you could clone out the 'focal point' in the middle of the image, it would be wonderful ;o)

    Cheers.

The one of the bird is hardly ignoring concepts, it has a focal point :)

I know, what I was referring to:

"Unlike some of last years stuff, having a focal point of something like this"

    ie the bird/worm

If your talking about the ones up for c&c, then yeah the bird is good focal point alright, but that was an unexpected thing that just cropped up.

I wanted a more upclose one but it wouldnt move from its damn perch.
