I was never a fan of the NUIG email system, but I figure, I'd better start using it so my contacts can see me as being part of some kind of institution instead of using Gmail.
Idealy I'd like to access it using Thunderbird, but thunderbird doesn't support microsoft exchange mail (why the hell do the college have to use that anyway?! whats wrong with pop?)
Has anyone managed to get nuig mail working with Thunderbird?

Why do you want your contacts to see you as part of an institution?
I have had my nuimail forwarded to my gmail from day one...

Check the sin boards for details on forwarding nui mail to gmail and set up a second account in gmail. That'll allow you to reply as xx@nuigalway.ie or xxyy@gmail.com.

    How are you doing that??
I use gmail to pick up mail from my other addresses, but gmail only supports POP3 - which of course NUIG webmail is not.
Theres no function in webmail to forward either :(

Theres a pretty vague thread about it on Sin boards:
