    Hi,

Just wondering what the deal is with getting a pay rise from an agency.
Been at this position 6 months now, all good feedback, so when is it good to ask?
    Any thoughts appreciated.:)

    I'm not sure I totally understand -

You work for a recruitment agency or you got the job via a recruitment agency?

oh i work for the agency but not in their office. They got me the job but I am not employed by the company I work for I am by the agency. Right?
    they pay my wages.

I'll be starting work in a new job soon which will be similar. It's a contract role so the company paying me will be putting me working somewhere else under contract. I think that's what your situation is too? Anyway, I don't know if this is the norm but I'll be having a pay review after 3 months.

When you took the job you would have signed a contract with the agency - is it permanent or for a fixed term, e.g. 12 months?

If it's a fixed term contract you won't get a pay raise during the contract...

If it's a permanent position ask the agency when are your salary reviews. No doubt they're once a year...

Any chances you have of getting an increase depend on how much they're making on having you employed in this way. ie you're billing them a daily rate of x, they're billing the company you work with a daily rate of x+y.

So how hard did you bargain with them at the beginning of the contract?. If you just accepted the rate they offered you then y is probably pretty healthy, and they could afford to take a hit on this. If you bargained hard with them then y is probably much smaller, so you've less chance.

Ha Ha im sorry for being a pig here
but do you honestly think you will get a raise with an agency ??
not a chance they will sooner give you the boot and get someone else in to take your place,
remember the number one rule "never trust an agency"
