If this is a really stupid question, forgive me - I haven't a notion about even the most basically technical stuff.

Is there a facility on work email (usually Microsoft Outlook I think) to block mails coming in from a particular party? Not just spam, any kind of email?

as savman says, yes you can do this, i used it to block both of yore mas.

    on a more helpful note:

Go to the "Actions" menu and click on, Junk E-mail > Junk E-mail Options.

The Junk E-mail Options dialog box opens.

Click on the "Blocked Senders" tab.

From here you can Add, Edit, or Remove E-mail addresses and Web domains that Outlook will block.

Yeah, its in the tools menu,

Go to message rules and in there fill in the options for:

    If from lines contain XXXXXX
    Delete Message

Cool. So it can be done. Thanks a million all.

And what kind of message would the person who's trying to send the mail get? Just a generic "delivery failed" one? Or would they get a message at all?

Dudess, why are you blocking my e-mails?! :( What's wrong?! I thought you'd love those naked pictures of me? Please don't do this to me...

Another way is to select the e-mail and then message/block sender.

The method listed in my post just moves the email directly to your deleted items. The person who sent it will still think you got it, unless they have the "message receipt" option on - in that case they'll think you got it but never read it.

    :D

Think I should be clearer - everyone seems to think I want to block a certain person. In fact, it's the other way round. I sent someone a mail to their work address - it's definitely correct - and I got a "delivery status notification (failed)" back. As I said, it's definitely the correct email address. I'm just wondering what this could mean: that the person blocked my email address or some other reason - maybe their mailbox is full. I mean, does such a message come up if you send an email to someone who's blocked your address, or do you just get nothing back? By the way, I'm not stalking this person or anything (I swear).

Their in box could simply be full

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,395 ✭✭✭Drift

Ok Dudess, I have you now. If you were blocked by them you'd never know about it. You'd get a delivery failure if their box was full but it could be other server/computer based problems too buts its not that they've realised you're stalking them yet!

If you really want to find out what happened though you could maybe hide in the bushes outside their house for a while, or ring them up and ask them while holding a hankie over your mouth!

jesus, you are stalking someone and using false pretences to lull us in all, just so you can ask does the message you are getting mean someone has blocked you? how about being honest from the start?

that is fucking low rent tbh. you've just gone way down in my estimation for one.
