    Orlando or Las Vegas?

Meself and herself, first time travelling to 'US and A' - we'd dig the rollercoasters and stuff at Universal Orlando but would also love to see Sin City and Grand Canyon, so cannot decide between the two destinations.

Would be sometime in 2008 for 6-8 nights. Vegas looks cheaper so far. We've no interest in gambling so that wouldn't bother me at all. Just want a nice hotel room with things to do. Y'know, some action!

    Any suggestions?

I've been to Orlando and there's really nothing else there except rollarcoasters and waterslides, but saying that it's fabulous!! Am planning on returning to Orlando next year!

I'm going to Vegas in 3 weeks, just for 3 nights so when I return I'll spill the beans!

Have to be honest, the goofy slides and rides and stuff in Orlando does sound cool :o

We're not really heavy drinkers so although nightlife is desirable it's more of a "day" holiday we're after.
Has anyone been to both places?

I have been in Vegas a couple of times, and as long as you don't go in the middle of summer (it was 120F this summer when I was there) you should be able to do loads of sightseeing and stuff. Helicopter rides to the grand canyon, out to the Hoover Dam, and then loads of shows and crap if you are into that as well.

If I were you I would go to Vegas for a few days, and take a flight to San Diego (about an hour only) for a couple of night whiule you are that side of the world as San Diego is a lovely city, and you can go to waterworld while you are there for the theme park bit of the holiday.

I have never been to Orlando, but I do love rollercoasters and stuff though, although queues of 45 mins + that I have experienced in some other US themeparks put me off them a bit.

I agree with 5starpool, if you go to Vegas take a trip somewhere else as well. About 4 days is enough for Vegas IMO, and I like gambling. That said it's great fun and is somewhere everyone should visit at least once.

I'm just back from Orlando, We stayed on International drive in the Staybridge Suites, nice apartment also came with free wifi in every room. International drive has a really good shopping scene which is always good, Got loads of bargains. you can get the I-ride trolley which takes you up and down Intl drive for $16 for 2 weeks, very handy. We also went to Daytona beach which is really beautiful.

My aunt is just back from vegas, according to her she got bored after 3 days as she wasnt a huge gambler, so she went to california just after 3 days.

    hope it helps

I have been to orlando twice and las vegas five times and seriously there is no comparison between the two. Orlando is really nice and you could have a great holiday but Las vegas is so much better its not funny, unless you have children of course because Vegas is much more for adults.

The 1150ft stratosphere tower has three of the world best rides, X-Scream, Insanity and Big Shot. None of the rides in Universal, Disney or Seaworld compare to the location of these rides. Vegas has fantastic shows, the best bars and nightclubs in america, the best restaurants and of course gambling :D But once you see the Venetian, Wynn, Caesars Palace, Mirage or Bellagio you will wonder how anyone has the time to gamble in vegas

The natural beauty of Death Valley, Grand Canyon, Valley of Fire and Red Rock Canyon is close by. here is a good website to start you off http://www.vegas.com/attractions/

The poster that said 4 days is enough in vegas is talking rubbish, its takes you a whole day just to navigate your hotel :)
