Is there a file somewhere one can search through to see the names of people qualified to practice law in Ireland? I found a database on the law society website but that was only partnerships.

There's a Law Directory published every year which has every solicitor's details in it. You could probably buy one from the Law Society if you need it. If its one particular name you're looking for, pm me as I have one on my desk here.

If on the other hand you are looking for all the names to spam mailshots at, please kill yourself in a painful manner forthwith.

There is a roll of solicitors upon which the name of every solicitor qualified to practice in the Republic of Ireland. The registrar of solicitors, appointed by the law society is obliged to allow members of the public to inspect it (source)
'You hadn't exactly gone out of your way to call attention to the building plans had you? I mean like actually telling anyone or anything.'

'But the plans were on display.'

'On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them.'

    'That's the display department.'

    'With a torch.'

'Ah, well the lights had probably gone.'

    'So had the stairs.'

'But look you found the notice didn't you?'

'Yes,' said Arthur, `yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying "Beware of The Leopard".'"
