I have a 512mb card for my camera. When i put it into my laptops card reader it doesnt pick it up. When i plug my camera in it doesnt pick it up. And when i put it into my camera and turn it on, my camera says it needs formatting. When i try format it it cant.

BTW its a fujifilm SD card.

Anyone know how i can save this or is it fecked?

Did you get it on eBay? Are you sure it's genuine? What's the error message it gives when the format fails?

Have had it about 6months and it always worked until recently.

The error says: Unable to format card, thats all it says.

If i could get it connected to the laptop im sure i could try fix it

Same thing has happened to me with two XD cards. They worked fine for over a year and then that happened. I couldnt get them to work in my laptop or camera. But when I put them in the printer they printed off.

I have my suspicions that the camera is the cause.

Have you checked to make sure its not write protected by mistake when you go to format it?

I put an SD card into a nintendo Wii to look at photos. When I put it back into the camera it didn't work. Seems the Wii put some kind of programme onto it. I put the card into the camera. Plugged the camera to computer via USB then erased contents on SD card. It worked fine after that!

When you put it in the laptop's card reader is it possible to format it there? I believe there's a tool you can get for low-level formatting SD cards too. Failing that...just get another one. 512mb SD cards are very, very cheap. (£3.49 from 7dayshop.com)
