Im looking for a 12" laptop with good battery life wifi, bluetooth, dvd read only, half decent dual processor, not really for gaming, built in webcam a plus, around the €2000 mark. Any suggestions welcome. I looked at the acer ferrari but they are all 3 cell battery.

Looked for similar last month and came down to either an IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad x61 or Toshiba Portege R500.

The Thinkpad is available on pcwb.ie and the Portege is on bms.ie but they come in well over the €2000 mark including VAT. (I got the Thinkpad in Singapore with loads of extras for €1500 and it's a fantastic piece of kit).

    Thanks for the advice

It does have to be small, I have a 15 inch laptop but I travel a lot and want something very portable.

I nearly bought the lenovo, its a lovely machine but It doesn't have a built in optical drive.

Its down to one of these few.

Well you can rule out the Tosh there. 1 gb and Vista is a No Go (you could always "downgrade" to XP Pro though)

I'd check out the Sony shop. They have amazing ultra portables.

I have a thing about Acer. I think they're crap but that's just a personal opinion. This Toshiba for an extra couple of hundred euro has enough memory for Vista.

I got an external optical drive with the Lenovo and haven't found it a problem. I really only use an optical drive for installing software from a CD or DVD which isn't very often.

I looked at a few Sonys but the warranty was only 1 year as opposed to 3 for Lenovo or Toshiba.
