    Bad ones :(

Unless there are some DCU funded discounts that I haven't heard of, there really aint much to go crazy about. All the bus tickets are online with special student tickets priced.

This week it could of cost me 17 euro to get to Athlone instead of 19 (return ticket). I went with 19, company pays for it.

i think it's about 85 quid now for the monthly dublin bus and rail ones, haven't got one for a while now, but will again at the start of next month.
it could work out cheaper getting weekly ones or even daily ones depending on how much you'll actually use it. some days when you don't bother coming in or have days off will be made up from going out in town at night, or heading shopping or whatever else....

Yeah it was 80 last term but I think they jacked up the price again. I think the commuter ticket for outer suburban costs more, say from kildare or carlow or wicklow, Where will you be coming in to DCU from?

you'll need to get the student travel card afaik. which is around €15. but opening bank accounts with various banks will offer deals - free/half price etc.

Don't get fooled by scams like this when opening a bank account, get an account with the genuine best deal in things such as charges, interest rates and overdraft rather than the one that gives you 7 euro of a student travel card.

O_o what's the problem with making an account in every bank (just going to AIB, BOI and bank of scotland makes me an easy €200), getting the "student benefits" and then actually using the account with the best deal?

I looked into the various student accounts awhile back and I found that AIB definitely have the best deals for students. Add to this the fact that AIB are on campus and they have the best online facilities means it's by far the best bet for DCU students.

(No, I don't work for them)

    :)

I opened an Ulster Bank account (free cash), a BoI account (free cash) and a AIB account (free phone or radio) when I started in college. In the end, I settled in using just AIB because they're on campus. Even BoI in Whitehall is a bit of a trek.

Edit: When I was commuting to DCU, the student travel card brought my bus+dart ticket from over 100 euro a month to 65 which wasn't too bad.
