Nokia 6230 - Memory Problem

Hoping someone might be able to help. I had a 32mb memory card in my 6230 but it held very little info so I decided to buy a 1Gb card. It's a SanDisk memory card, a little one that has to go into an adapter in order to fit into the phone. Having checked the settings on the phone, it's recognising the card but just says (unformat.). It gives me an option to SELECT but when I press this nothing happens. How does one go about formatting the card?

    Thanks,

    Richie

If you highlight the card and press options there should be an option to format. But formatting in the phone can cause problems so its better to put it in a usb memory card reader and format it from a pc

I thought the same but when I highlight it, the only options it gives is either SELECT or BACK and when I press SELECT nothing happens.

Please excuse my absolute technological ignorance - where would I get a usb memory card reader?

Any electronic shop. Dixons, pc world, maplin, argos etc. If you've no further use for it you can always bring it back the next day and get a refund. Just make sure not to damage the packaging

Thanks for that. I'll check it out tomorrow.
