A bit of disappointment as this was a second division drama from showtime, not a patch on rome in class with loads of irish actors it looked like the irish rm prequel

I dunno, I never warmed to Rome but I really like this so far. But I know the story of the Tudors inside out so its nice to see it play out in front of me, plus Jonathon Rhys Myers is HOT! :p

Ha no, in all honesty I do think he's very good in it.

Saw it last night for the first time.Very disapointing.Way too hollywoodised.Jrm is totally miscast as Henry.Could they not have found someone who bears even a passing phsical resemblance to him.

I watched the first episode of this a few weeks ago and it just couldn't hold my attention. I'm quite keen on Tudor history so was pretty disappointed. JRM did not capture my imagination as Henry and there was too much of an age difference between himself and Maria Doyle Kennedy.

Maybe I was a bit harsh on it in that it was the opening episode and there was a lot of set up, but I didn't like anything about it at all.

But there was an age difference between Henry and his Queen.

Only saw the second episode. I'll give it another go before passing judgement

Yes there was, but the age difference between JRM and MDK is more than twice the age difference of that between Henry and Catherine, and it really shows.

I've seen it all and I thought this was excellent, though I knew practically nothing about the Tudors beforehand so maybe that helps . A welcome filler for the gap left behind by Rome anyway. Looking forward to the 2nd series.

Take solace, all you history buffs, in knowing that now the vast TV watching public will finally know that Henry's surname was Tudor, and not d'Ate.

I downloaded the first season of the Tudors but was disappointed, especially in the choice of the actor who played King Henry, because he didn't look anything like him.

The fellow who played Buckingham would have been perfect, physically, but I guess the producers didn't think that kind of verisimilitude was needed.

The show was slick, but hollow. Compare that with the old BBC series with Keith Michell.
