Hey, not too sure if this should be here or in Windows or something, so move if needs be...

Anywho, I was recently (last night) advised that if i update all the various drivers for my computer (graphics etc.) my computer will perform better...

    Is this true?

And what I really wanna know is where would I find all these drivers? Is there a central site somewhere that could scan my PC or something and find all relevant ones? I'm using a Dell (running Vista Business) and buddy said there might be a Dell program somewhere that does same, is there?

    Cheers...

Not really in a general sense most driver updates are for fixing bugs.

An exception is the graphics cards drivers these should be updated on a regular basis if you are into gaming as the drivers includes bug fixes and optimizations for games. If your not into gaming then there is no real need unless a bug is affecting you.

As for a central location for drivers well with a Dell you can use your service tag and Dell will provide all the drivers for the system on their support website but the drivers usually aren't updated too frequently which is especially true for the graphics drivers Dell provides.

The other central location as your running Vista is Windows Update which can be found in the control panel and updated drivers are located within the extra updates section of WU (only critical updates are installed automatically).

The last option is to know the hardware in the system and that way you can track down the very latest drivers for the hardware from the makers website e.g Intel motherboard, ATI graphics, Realtek sound etc.
