I looked into this for myself some time ago, but I also use Media Centre. On Windows, try www.orb.com it's free and does a similar thing - streams your media to you via a browser.

Yeah I've seen this before, I was more looking for something that could send my tv channels from home to anywhere i.e. work or abroad, seeing as I work odd shifts and sometimes places.

    Anyone?

I have one and it's the business. Well worth it - I watch TV at work.

You should try and get the new Slingbox PRO if possible. I don't have it but I hear it's better.

Does this affect VoIP when using it?

It requires a decent upload speed so it will cut into the upload bandwidth needed by VOIP as you talk. You'd want 512 kbps for decent reception of the streamed data from your Slingbox to where you'll be watching it. Throw in VOIP [and web browsing] and it comes close to 1 Mbps upload.

    If used locally its perfect

So my NTL bb aint going to cut it?
I've the package below bb max (think its 3mb down, 300kb up).
Sure their bb max is only 512kb up :(

That's still better than my 256 kbps. With 512 kbps, a full screen stream from the Slingbox does look that much better. Don't get me wrong -- provided the window wasn't oversized, a slower speed would still be acceptable.

My Slingbox arrived on Friday. So far I have only used it within my home LAN and I am pretty pleased with it. With a bit of tweaking the picture is very good on full screen. You would need a 512kbit/sec upload speed to get a decent full screen picture when using it out-of-LAN.
Works perfectly with the Sky box and changes the remote to look like the Sky one and all.
The extent to which you can change the settings is a bit prohibitive and must be done through the slingplayer interface. Also I am having problems with the build in dvb-t tuner. I have a dvb-t tuner in my pc and can pick up both claremont cairn and three rock perfectly (although the signal from CC is stronger as aerial is pointing that direction) However on slingbox only picking up the signal from one transmitter (assuming CC but unsure as it does not tell you what channel it is tuned to) and getting a very pixelated and broken picture. All other sources, analogue, s-video and composite are fine so I'm guessing its a problem with the strength of the signal.
