I personally have not worked for them, but my brother has.
For the most part, they are a call centre. you have quotas to reach, you are timed when you go to the bathroom and are repremanded when they feel you have gone to the toilet too many times!!! I know a person up there who fell into bad health, resulting in having to visit a doctor at least once a week and missing a few days a month. MBNA threatened to fire her for missing too many days, even with sick certs they said it was against policy!!! I think it was sorted after the person threatened legal proceedings. Im sure from all that you can tell what I know of MBNA is not good

Did I not read a survey (i think it was the Irish Independent) a couple of years ago about the 50 best company's to work for,I am nearly sure MBNA were in the top 5/3.But I could be wrong as I said it was maybe 4 years ago.

I wouldnt put a lot of weight on that list of best companies to work for. my previous company was No.1 in companies with over 1000 employees last year, and IMO, if they are No.1, id hate to work for whoever is at the bottom of the list. its a scale that starts off with low standards. also, companies can doctor that. We were told that the company got No.1 due to a random employee survey, yet in a group of about 30 of us in my dept, none of recieved the "random" survey. make of that what you will.

    Hi,

I worked for them the year they won that survey (they were voted no. 1) Have no idea how that happened, it was the worst job I ever had. Everything the above poster said is true. You are constantly timed all day, even when running to the loo. Nightmare. If you don't receive sales targets you're called into the office. It got to a stage where people in the call centre were signing customers up for payment protection when they hadn't agreed to it as pressure was huge to make targets. Only lasted 3 months. Give it a miss is my advice...

Looks like I will not be reading that survey again when it comes out....no need to waste a few mins of my life reading crap.
