Bought this media player hard drive enclosure the other day. Got an old hard drive, formatted for FAT32 and put movies (all different codecs), photos and music on it. When I hook it up to my TV it says "no media found". It recommends in the manual to make folders for each type of file i.e moves, photos, music etc. which I have done and still nothing. Even when I hook it up to my PC nothing happens, it doesnt show up as a removable drive or anything. I was thinking maybe I hit something on the circuit board or something, but then I hook it up to my tv the menu shows up but like i said above it just says "no media found".

Please help! This is really pi$$ing me off!

    Thanks!

    From the FAQ:

    Q) purchased media player enclosure fitted hard drive created folders inserted movie in folder it does not reconise the hard drive in the menu file its blank am I missing something? - Alan Bentley
    A) check that the file is a supported format (not WMV or realmedia etc) and that the hard drive is FAT32 formatted (please email technical@maplin.co.uk for more detailed techncial advise as FAQ system is for product spec questions etc not specific support).

    Video media formats: VCD, (VOB)DVD, MPEG1/2/4, DIVX3.X, DIVX4.X, DIVX5.X

Try deleting everything from the drive and put 1 JPEG image and see if that works
    - If its not recognising it when you plug it into your PC then the drive might be fooked... Again you will need to test the drive inside a PC,
but try the JPEG thing first.

Well the drive works fine in another enclosure I have. Going to try another hard drive in the Media player first, then will try your 1 image idea. thanks.

I hooked up an old hard drive and put one image on it and it worked, so loaded it wih videos, music etc. and its working fine. Its only a 60G Hard Drive were as the other was a 120G. I'll test the other one in a PC soon to see if its seen its day, but I'm pretty sure it was working fine the last time I had it in a system. Thanks JoePC.

On another note, anyone know a good video conversion program for changing .mkv files to like xVid or DivX?

Glad to hear, you could try reformatting the 120GB drive and trying again...

Just for information to other potential purchasers!

I have had one of these for a few months and last week it just started hanging on the startup screen saying something along the lines of 'Initialising please do not turn off'.

I have tried everything as in formatted the hard drive and even swopped the hard drive but it still wont get passed the screen! It works fine with either hard drives a usb storage device but just wont load up proper

So my advice is to not bother with these drives, just get a dvd player with a usb port!!!
