    I'm selling rather than buying...

Most of the traders are busy with straw at the moment but with a shortage of feed for the winter hay has to be worth it's money. I want to sell at least some out of the field & move the rest in...

People are asking for crazy money imo... I got really nice round bales last year for 18 euro delivered and it was lovely hay.
Same guy is looking for 30 euro plus delivery for what he describes as 'middling' hay this year.

He can ask for €30, that dosen't mean he will get it.
I'd say you would be doing alright to get €18 to €20 for out of the field.
And a little more for delivered

Friend of mine sold round bale hay €40 a bale last week  Must have been some real toolbag he sold it to but still, its makin big money, small squares goin for €5 a pop.

We just finished bailing 750 round bales of hay last week for a customer, and he is sellin it all , as if he wasn't rich enough already

Given the poor weather conditions this year I reckon that most of the hay that was baled this year was at best "middling". But €30 a bale for anything less than top quality is crazy ..... jeebus it would be cheaper to import feed!!

I have seen on the farmers journal that farmers (particularly in the west) are paying €20-€23 for "secondary class" hay...I presume that this is the same as "middling" :o
