Running a poker night as a fundraiser - advice?

For those that have run similar, how many runners/tables/size of a hall/buy ins/prizemoney is required for an event where we're trying to make c1500 euro for a football team?

Would you advise running it ourselves or getting an organiser in, if so how much do they take?

Any horror stories to report so we can try and avoid a repeat? e.g. running the night on the same night as the local regular pub game which has bigger money.

As a nonpoker question, for those whove tried to run a poker night and found it didnt work are there any other options, a race night or quiz night seem to be the only other runners?

    cheers.
