Does anybody have any information on this share? I bought it back in April and its price rose about 50% in anticipation that their Huntington’s disease drug was going to be approved. It failed at the last test and the stock price fell to a much lower price. That’s a brief summary of it. The price has started rising in the last two weeks after months of stagnation. Looks like some news is filtering into the market. Can anybody enlighten me? I still feel they are an excellent company and very under priced at present. Thanks

    Why?

How is it different from a pump and dump penny stock?

Not sure exactly what that means but think its got quality people behind it. It spun off Elan with heavy financial backing from Dermot Desmond. Investing heavily in research and to develop their existing product line. I don't have extensive knowledge of the firm or I wouldn't be asking the questions I just asked in my original post

I honestly hope you havent lost alot of money here.

The company is a micro cap,the value of its shares are about 30million at the moment, this means there will be very little coverage on the company. The company lost 21m in 05 and almost 28m in 06.This makes it very difficult to value the company.

Even though you have a lot of confidence in the people involved, this isnt a guarantee for sucess, they need to have a comparative advantage or be operating in a particulary favourable industry. There were alot of smart people in Enron and LTCM,and even Warren Buffet couldnt keep Berkshire Hathaway (the original textile mill) in business.

That being said,I am sure the price will move wildly every time some new drug trial news is released.

My first comment wasnt at all helpful, apoligies.
    ;)

Same happened with elan and the drug tysabrai....News of the release will drive up price because if it gets the approval profits shoot up with share value...

Ive been watching this one too since its price plumeted, Been checking there website too. They have a pipeline bar chart for the different drugs being researched, a lot of them are under evaluation, Another thing to note is that the "pipeline" is very vague, it gives phases 1,2 and 3 but doesnt actually tell you what the phases are. Sale of the drug could be phase 50 for all I know.

Taken from here. Up by 8% yesterday on this announcement. Will be interesting to see if they can follow on from phase 2.
MYSTIC, Conn. and DUBLIN, April 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Amarin Corporation plc (AMRN: 8.43 0.00 0.00%), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company with a focus on cardiovascular disease, today announced that data from the MARINE trial, a pivotal Phase 3 study investigating AMR101 as a treatment for very high triglycerides (≥500 mg/dL), will be presented at the National Lipid Association (NLA) 2011 Annual Scientific Sessions at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in New York City on May 19-22, 2011.

The MARINE trial results will be presented in an abstract titled “AMR101, a Pure-EPA Omega-3 Fatty Acid, Lowers Triglycerides in Patients With Very High Triglycerides Without Raising LDL-C: the MARINE Study” by Harold Bays, M.D., Medical Director, Louisville Metabolic and Atherosclerosis Research Center, and principal investigator of the study. As reported in November 2010, the MARINE study met its primary endpoint of percent change in triglyceride (TG) levels from baseline to week 12, for both the 4 gram and 2 gram dose groups of AMR101. Additionally, the MARINE study demonstrated no statistically significant increase in LDL cholesterol and a safety profile similar to placebo.

Two additional EPA-related abstracts will also be presented at the NLA annual meeting. The abstract titled “Effects of Eicosapentaenoic Acid and Docosahexaenoic Acid on Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol: A Critical Review” will be presented by Terry Jacobson, M.D. from Emory University, Atlanta, GA. The other abstract is titled “Comparative Lipid Antioxidant Effects of Omega-3 Fatty Acids in Combination with HMG-CoA Reductase Inhibitors” and will be presented by Preston Mason, Ph.D. from Elucida Research, Beverly, MA and Harvard Medical School. All three of the studies were sponsored by Amarin.

Following the presentation of MARINE results at the above forum in May, Amarin, together with clinical investigators from the MARINE study, plans to publish additional data from the MARINE trial, including data related to statistically significant reductions in several important lipid and inflammatory markers such as Apo B, Lp-PLA2, VLDL-C, LDL particle number, and total cholesterol.

When did you buy at ,in the last few months?

There presenting further information on yesterday's results in a month and it's still waiting approval so we may see another jump.

I'm still some way off to break even after the reverse split a few years back but it's slowly getting there. Weak dollar is not helping the cause.

I had 3670 shares now have 376 after the reverse split. I bought after the share price collapsed to 60 cent back in 2008. I want to put my amarin shares on an online stocktrading website, so I can sell them when I want to. But am def in it for the long hall, they are gonna be bought out, could see it going as high as $50 per share.

I'm in the same situation and after a long roundabout process I was told that Campbell O'Connor in Dublin are handling this. I rang them and explained the situation, it's fairly common I'd say, they were very helpful. You'll need to set up a Crest account with them and they'll hold the shares until you deceide to sell them
If you contact them they'll email you on the details.

I have 367 shares am looking forward to next week, will be selling. I had 3,670 shares before they did the reverse split!

I'm in a similar position myself, approval seems more than likely when you consider the mistake they made with their website!! do you think will the stock rise much more on foot of such news?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 369 ✭✭liam24

I'd say they could go about 10% higher. How are you going to sell your shares? I have the re-Issued share certificate, is it just as simple as phoning a stockbroker?

I bought mine through the IEX a number of years ago at €2.05!! Do you have to get a new share cert since the company was de listed?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 369 ✭✭liam24
