    Hi,

My father-in-law has Chorus MMDS. It has been giving some trouble lately so he asked me to have a look at it.

It turns out he only watches rte1,rte2,tv3. They were coming in through rabbits ears anyway. The rabbits ears had come loose - so its fixed now.

He's paying chorus €390 a year for a service he doesn't use so I'm getting him to cancel it. It turns out he has paid up for the year. If I contact Chorus will they refund a portion of the year?

Before I ring I want to here other people's experience. I haven't dealt with Chorus before so any advice appreciated. He's been paying them for nothing for years - would be nice to get a few quid back from them !!

    Thanks

If the in-law has completed his minimum term of service ( eg 12 months)
then chorus ntl o2 or any service provider is obliged to let him quit service contract and he is due a refund for period not used, However you will not be allowed to cancel a servive on an account belong to another person ( data protection act etc.)

So long as he's had the service for at least twelve months he can cancel without any penalty. He'll have give to give a month's notice though. Once the account is disconnected, any closing credit balance on the account will be refunded to him by cheque.:)

Hi, no problem :) . thanks to boomerang for mentioning a period of notice required by chorus, this is also standard practice by service providers.
