Would think Santa ponsa would be more lively than crete. Its only couples I ever here of going to Crete. Suppose yez could start the 3some trend going there;)

Worked in Santa Ponsa for a couple of years

It quietens down after the first week and a half of september-magaluff isnt far from it(20 min taxi) which would prob be a better bet for nightlife if you can find somewhere....I think you'd be let down but SP to be honest!

A friend was in Crete last year for a week around this time or so and said it was fairly dead, all the young people heading home for college and whatever.

Santa Ponsa probably wont be much different but as another poster said with Magaluf,it should be a bit more lively and on the whole much more people than in Crete.

Ultimately you probably left it a bit late to go on a lads holiday.

I went to Crete in May with my bf. It was the beginning of the season and was very couply and quiet. I'd imagine the end of the season is the same. I've been in Magaluf the second week in September for my 6th year holiday a few years ago, and it was still lively enough. We had fun anyway, I wasn't in before 6am most nights and there was still a lot of people around. A few of the lads we went away with were in Santa Ponsa but they used to come up to us to go out. I'd say Santa Ponsa as long as you don't mind getting a taxi to Magaluf.

I worked in SP afew years again and as mention by Sony it does get very quite in mid september so I dont think it would suit. I've never been to Crete so cant give an option on there. I have been to both Turkey and Lanzarote in September and they are both great and very lively and still very warm
    hth:D

Heading to SP on the 23rd with a mate.

Any idea what the weather would be like then?

I'd say you'll be so hammered, that the weather won't be an issue!!

Santa Ponsa = Ballymun in the sun avoid at all costs

Crete is far better, can be a little bit tacky depending on where you go but far better than Santa Ponsa.

Stayed in the Deya apts in SP(manies a moon ago:o ),they were nicknamed the Ballymun apts.
I too would not go back to SP, even if I was paid to(well, depends how much:D )

I would have thought that Hersonissos is as lively as Santa Ponsa?

I've been to both places, but Santa Ponsa nearly 10 years ago and with lads, while Crete was with some other couples. Hersonissos seemed bigger and livelier though.

Magaluf is by far and away the nastiest place I have ever been to. OK, it was 10 years ago, but it must have improved a huge amount for people to recommend it.

Well i cant comment on santa ponsa but ive heard plenty on it from friends and stuff its very much like home in the sun...

Ive been o crete 3 times and i can tell ya da place is mental in the high season...now for you i cant guarantee it would be busy enough for wat your looking for so maybe santa ponsa would be better as u can go 2 magaluff..

if ur goin to crete at that time im sure hotels wont be full shop around and i guarantee you get an apartment with a pool and whatever else...

Overall Crete is a change from Spain and is lovely but ultimately its late season and it could be a bit quiet 4 ya...

PS. the girls working in the bars are always well up 4 it;)

Crete Crete, santa P. = disaster zone. seriously crete go to bar find locals talk and they will guide you as to where to go what to do.. I have always used this recipe when abroad my only doubts about certain destinations has been currency to use etc. so go buy a few drinks, talk to locals and staff, enjoy maybe you will find things not on travel guides etc, think in terms of what travel guides reccomend to tourists here and what you would reccomend to them if you found them to be ok company for a night of drinks etc.....
