Were looking for a sys admin to come on board to do general IT admin in the office and work with production web/db servers. Iv attached the job spec.

Its based slap bang in the City Centre (60 secs from Grafton St/St Stephens Green). Company is young, relaxed start up. Were launching the site very soon so hopping to get someone on board ASAP. Who ever gets it will be working with the IT manager to build the systems and put all the policies in place so ability to work with others and on own intitive is important.

That salary is terrible for a city-centre sys-admin.
I assume you have other higher level IT guys?

thats doesnt look like a bad starting salary for a sysadmin job to me.

Its not a starting salary. The job specs state 2-3 years in a similar role. Not 2-3 years period. Normally it takes 2-4 years to get to a low sys-admin level from tier 1.
That salary is not comfortable for a city centre job in one of the most expensive cities in one of the most expensive countries in Europe. Possibly ok for the west of Ireland.

Just noticed you are the OP. If you only want 2-3 years IT Ops experience then specify 2-3 years experience. I would read that as 2-3 years in a 2nd/3rd tier role.
In retraction if that is all you are looking for then yes, its a good salary. :)

My mistake on the phrasing 2-3 years IT experience is fine. I looked at Irish Jobs before I orignally posted and thats the going rate even in the city center.

Its a role that will suit someone who wants to lean and grow the role. Day to day work will be varied. We have a ton of HP, Cisco, F5, Juniper gear as well as day to day office IT admin so I anyone who can learn quick and apply the skills should geat great experience. Loads of room for growth as the company grows.
