What does this symbol mean?

Ok, so I probably should have scanned an example but if you look at a tube of toothpaste or something similar it'll generally have a little icon on the label somewhere. The icon looks like a jar / tub with the lid open and beside it is a number (12 is quite common) and sometimes the letter 'M' in caps.

I've always assumed this meant they were 12 'standard measures' contained in the product but this doesn't make sense on some products because the number is obviously a lot lower than even an extremely generous 'standard' measure.

    So, what does it mean?

it might refer to how long it takes to thouroughly clean teeth (12 mins)

It's the length of the toothpaste if you were to squeeze it all out in a line at once (12 Miles).

Maybe its the amount of monkeys it took to ejaculate into the tube before it was full.

Its an age advice warning, 12 means slight hint of nudity and bad language. You wanna check out the 18's plus version, whoa momma.
