Clip from Peter Jackson's revolutionary 'Crossing The Line' [A MUST SEE!]

Remember that director Peter Jackson?! Made somewhat of a name for himself as of late and shortly after directing a trilogy of movies about hobbits and about one about an angry gorilla, he just disappeared with nothing heard from since.

Turns out that unbeknownst to me anyways that he was writing and directing a short World War II film called 'Crossing The Line'.

And now the interesting part, it is the first short movie to be shot entirely using RED Digital Cinema cameras. "What?!?" i hear you ask. Well...
For those wondering “what is RED?”, basically this is a camera that is better than film quality. Think the size of film with no grain. Unless of course you want it. The camera is entirely digital too, so you don’t have to worry about any complex scans. Further, the camera is modular, like a LEGO toy.

Don’t be tied into your camera manufacturer’s configuration, switch it up however you like. What’s best is the price - at only $17,500 indie filmmakers (and studio filmmakers) will save literally millions of dollars because they don’t need to worry about film processing (think of what you save in dailies with an all digital workflow) not to mention the price of the film and the film camera themselves.

A short clip (30 seconds) has been put up on the Web and the 30 second excerpt is 90MB in size and one quarter (!!) the resolution it was recorded at so you can't help how crystal clear and magnificent it will look at full res.

    Download the clip here (90MB)

EDIT: Actually.. i got my wires crossed. Below is the 30 second trailer on YouTube. What we have above is a 2 minute high-resolution excerpt of the film. Well worth the download. Don't bother with the one on YouTube - tis worthless really!

EDIT 2: Bollocks.. i was right the first time - some sites are so misleading. Both clips are the same. But there is a 2 minute one available, though i'm not sure where. But as someone who viewed the YouTube version and the one to download, view the one to download. It looks blooming fantastic.

Or for those of you who can't spare the bandwidth (though i recommend the version above):

Just did a check on Google... one site says World War II, another says World War I...

    .. so it's a toss-up i guess! :D

EDIT: Oh wait, PJ himself says WWI (link).
"The First World War is something of a hobby for me, and we participate in a few NZ airshows, where we fly WW1 aircraft, and have uniforms, tanks and artillery for the “ground theatre” aspect of the airshows. The RED jet, with two prototype cameras on board, was in the air and heading our way and we had 48 hours to figure something out. I decided to grab all this WW1 gear and make a 10 minute war movie."

Ooh that is some pretty good definition they got going there.
The whole RED business does certainly sound like an interesting concept though...

Yeah, have watched the clip a few times and the definition really is something.

Watch when there's an explosion and it shows them in a line in the trenches, and the dirt scatters. You can see the individual bits of dirt hit them and stick on their uniforms. It really is glorious!

Can't wait to see more from it!

    Oh, just found this.

Here's the new 2 minute trailer for 'Crossing The Line' at 2K (which is twice the resolution of the clip above, but still only half of the original film).

You have two choices.. i think i know which one you will choose:

The original 2K version (WARNING: a whopping 2GB!!!!!!!!)
    2K compressed with h.264 (29MB)

Enjoy - does look fantastic! (though i only watched the 29MB version! :o)
