There are some good free converters, but TMPGenc Express 4 has to be the best all round converter i have used, its fast, supports every format i ever threw at it, and has profiles for lots of portable devices..

    Its not free but.......

    Here's what I had:
20 jpg pictures with transition effects combined to create a wmv file using Windows Movie Maker.

After the completion the wmv file was 5.98MB in size.

    What I wanted:

To convert the wmv file to an AVI file.

    What I got:

    I tried two different converters.
    1. was Advanced X Video Converter
    2. was TMPGenc Express 4

    The Results:

Advanced X Video Converter converted the wmv file to AVI flawlessly & the resulting AVI file was 167MB in size.

TMPGenc Express 4 Converted the file much faster but the resulting file was jumpy when played. The resulting AVI file size was (Wait for it) 2.6GB

WTF is that all about? 2.6GB!!!! I know you would expect quite an increase in size after conversion, but 2.6GB...

when i try to install SuperC I get the following:

    SUPER ©
    C:\Users\cian\Downloads\Setup.ini

    Invalid database.

    The installation will be cancelled.
    OK

Any way i can fix that?
I'm using Mozilla and I don't think Im using a download manager

I agree that Super(c) will do the trick - although since I switched to Vista I'm having problems

Go into TOOLS>INTERNET OPTIONS and delete your temporary Internet files & try again.

Deleting my temporary files had no effect.

I managed to download it from a mirror site but I get error messages every time I try and do any conversions

Erm... Learn how to use it? If you got a ridiculously huge file like that you obviosly encoded it to a raw uncompressed avi or something...

Choose one of the xvid profiles and you will get a small file very quickly....

How long is the video? I mean 2.6gigs of decent quality xvid video would be over 5 hours of footage...
