Anybody know any nice little towns around the country worth visiting, you know the small village ones, with the basics, a post office, pub etc. I love stumbling upon these places just by chance and havin a stroll around, but would like to know of anymore that would be of interest. Some of the places that stand out for me are...
    - Inistiogue, kilkenny
    - Thomastown, kilkenny
    - Avoca, Wicklow
    - Woodenbridge, Wicklow
    - Terryglass, Tipp
    - Kilaloe, Limerick
    - Kilmore Quay, Wexford

there's probably a lot im not remembering but sure anyone else know of any gems?

edit: ok maybe stepaside shouldn't be there, but I still like the area

Eh, no. You really don't want to go to those places unless you're determined. They're just horrible. Put Kells, Kilkenny there instead, lovely little place that.

Carlingford in Co Louth. Stunning setting, medieval buildings, lovely seafood restaurants and great pubs. What more could you want?

Dunmore East is the most beautiful village in Ireland. Thatched houses, red sandstone cliffs, gorgeous pines, palms and cedars everywhere and the views over Waterford Harbour. There's nowhere like it.

Sheesh man, i personally despise them, on the off chance you agree with that i was trying to do you a favour. And why would i sell you kells? You can clearly make up your own mind about something. But considering i hate the places you don't, you'd probably hate it.

    ha, funny.

Rathvilly is nice. I was going to say yeah, go there. Then I remembered one time not that long ago, me and the foreign mrs went into a pub. Jaysus, everything stopped, it seemed. Heads turned around like the Exorcist, young fellas stopped playing pool, oulfellas stopped supping their pints, I think the barman muted the telly!

Odd, but unnerving for her. We didn't stay!

Passed thru Durrow, Co. Laois, right beside Kilkenny border on way to Kilkenny itself, looked quite a nice place, plenty of history around!
