Barred from Jackpot.... Advice?

Went to the jacpot with a friend of mine last night for the 1st time. We arrived and registered as members in the collosus as is the norm. Everything was fine and we went across to the Jacpot to play the tournie.

Two hands in and the manager from the Colossus comes in and calls my friend outside to the lane. I found this strange and followed out after the next hand. He was out there with the manager and the guy who processed our registration forms. I asked what the problem was and was told that a sum of money had gone missing from the registration desk at the time that we were there. He said that the money was left on the counter before we went in and when we left it was gone.

now, I know with 100% accuracy there was no money on the desk when we walked in as it was empty until two registration forms were put on the desk. I asked to see the cameras and we were brought into the backroom. The manager showed the video of a lady approaching the desk and then leaving. It does not show her putting money on the desk at any stage and we were told that the place where the money was is a "black spot" on the camera. Then you can see myself and my friend approach the counter, fill in the forms and leave.

After seeing this I asked the manager is he accusing me of robing money from the premises. he replied "you two were the only people that past through and the money didnt just vanish". At this point i was getting very pissed off and told the manager he should get the guards up to settle this. He declined and then I insited that we get our touney buy in back. he went and got the money and came back outside to us.

It was at this point that that he came out and said that he has decided not to take the matter further and that we are both barred. I flipped at this and asked again could we get the guards up and resolve this and again he declined. I told him that if he wouldnt call the guards I would. He then said that his manager wasnt in until 11 and he would show him the tapes then. i asked that when the manager came in for him to ring me on my mobile and i was told that he would. We then left.

I never got a phonecall last night and im wondering what people think I should do? As things are I am barred from that casino for theft. This is not something I want on my name. Should I ring them to get the issue resolved or am I over reacting and should i just forget about it? any opinions on this would be great, cheers.

Edit: the sum of money in question was €18.

Eoghan.... I was wondering when this would come up here... My friend Pat was telling me what happened last night and trying to describe the 2 guys in question.. he kept saying "you know the guy" "in the stripey top?" Nice lad... you know him .... and I couldn't think who it was.... he thought it was a disgrace and that ye took nothing and wouldn't take anything..... ever let alone 18 bloody euro

It was only when I went into Lukes later that Pat pointed you out to me and I said thats Eoghan from Boards... I was going to have a chat with you before I left about it but took a cooler for my stack and made a quick exit with my tail between my legs...

I think the minimum you should recieve is an apology and full retraction from the club in question... bloody disgrace!!! I'll be having a word on my next visit and it's a pity I didn't know it was you at the time it happened...

i'm a big fan of the jackpot but thats a joke. demand an apology and i'd even go further and look for some sort of remedy, be it free entry into tournaments for a given period or something!

Wow thats brutal sorry to hear that happened to you. I would be so pissed if they done that on me. I would of call the police and I'd be sending then a letter from solicitor. Chances are they will probably just ignore you if you don't do something offical.

You definitely should've got the cops up on the spot to make things offical and then followed with a solicitors letter. That said I have no idea of your legal ground here...maybe ask in the legal discussion forum.

This is not the place to debate this really. Neither is legal discussion as that forum is about discussion of the legal system in Ireland, not about specific cases.

I would phone the floor manager and ask for a meeting. Explain the situation and if he doesnt produce a solution you are happy with, you either swallow it and never go back or go to a lawyer and see what your options are. There may be issues of slander involved. In the mean time, I would ask this not to go any further as a discussion because once it strays off the proveable facts, Boards becomes liable for anything libelous.

    Oh Behalf of Eoghan

Just wanted to come back on here to say that I recieved a call from the manager of the Collosus on Saturday night. He apologised for what happened and said it was a total misunderstanding, he said that we are not barred and offered a meal and a bottle of wine in their restaurant as a gesture of good faith.

I am very happy with this outcome and commend the Colossus for the way this was handled. I would now have no problem going back and hope to do so in the near future,

    Eoghan.
