Calculating Holiday Pay

    Hi,
I've recently left my job but received no holiday pay when I went to pick up my P45. So before emailing the book keeper I wanted to calculate my holiday pay to make sure I will be getting what I am owed. Just one question though before I multiply the amount of days worked by 8% I assume I should take away any bank holidays?

Also on a seperate note I started in January and was being paid €300 weekly into my bank account. I never received a payslip and I was also working another job on a part time basis. I assumed that I was being paid €8 per hour (37.5 hour working week) and therefore thought I was being paid below the minimum wage. A few months ago I asked the book keeper why I was not on the minimum wage, she said I was, that it was dependent on my age, then she told me the next day she checked it out and that I should have been on the higher minimum wage and said she would rectify it. That was the last I heard about it and I still received the same €300 weekly into my account. Then when I collected my P45 she had all my weekly pay slips since January sitting for me. I had a look at these and they showed €311.25 gross in January (which would have been the minimum wage) minus PAYE which meant my total pay was coming in at €295. Then from July my payslips showed the higher minimum wage (€324.38 gross) leaving me with a total pay of just over €305. Is this perfectly legal what has been done? I asked her about this and she said I may have been underpaid by €5 from July but I was overpaid by €5 from January.

is everyone entiltled to holiday pay? Or do you have to work a certain amount of months? It is 8% of your hours worked, but that may differ if it says so in your contract.

Hi Kevin, just re: the minimum wage issue; what age are you?

If you're taking it as 8% of hours worked, don't include the days you werent working (such as unpaid sick days, bank holidays). You should check your work contract to see exactly what your annual leave entitlement is, however, as it is dependant on the job.

Hey I'm 20 but should be on the full minimum wage as I have checked this out with the Rights Commissioner, as I had been working part-time for over 2 years prior to this job I am entitled to the full minimum wage.

As regards checking my contract, I was never given one even though I was a permanent full time member of staff. So I have been looking at this link - http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/employment/employment-rights-and-conditions/leave-and-holidays/annual_leave_public_holidays
