How to keep away the hangover

Ok, I've just woken up after a good night out on the vodka last night. However, I'm pretty sure I'm still drunk. It took me a long time to type boards.ie into the address bar. I get killer hangovers, how do you think I can stave onw off today? I've already drank a jug of water and I was considering just having another drink and staying kind of drunk all day, but I think that's just preventing the inevitable! Any other suggestions? Anything to stop me lying in bed all day later and roaring for a bucket!

Lots and lots and lots of ways to get rid of a hangover. Everyone is different. It depends on the hangover too. If it's an upset stomach then take some alka seltzer and LOTS of water. I usually drink sparkling water - always settles my stomach. If your head is at you try to sleep that off, or take some panadol. If you're really tired you'll obviously just have to sleep for a bit. If, after all of this you are still feeling pretty bad, have a pint in the pub. It may take 40 minutes or so to finish the pint (maybe even an hour in some cases) but once you do you'll be fine.

    Dont drink :D

    Was it redbull?

If you were drinking vodka and reb=dbull the drink will make you worse well does for me. Great though if you're dying from normal pints.

Just drinking water or milk is your best bet, get some breakfast aswell. I usually get a killer headache so a few panadol take care of that for a few hours. Theres no magic cure*

    *except more drink of course

No, I was drinking vodka and coke. Vodka always makes me wake up really early the next day. I'm waiting for my bf to wake up so he can tell me what I did last night. I believe there may be a few shameful things. So far, no hangover though! Although, i do have the shakes... so we'll see!

Dirty rotten sex eh? If he wakes up smiling you're grand. If he wakes up and has a freaked look on his face I'd head for the hills! :p

Oooh.. that does ring a few bells. I have a tendancy to be very, ahem vocal, with the drunken sex and we have a friend of his staying on our couch... uh oh!

Drink water as you're drinking, normally I'd have a small mug of water after each drink/second drink. I wake up as if I hadn't been drinking the night before :D

Whenever you get home or plan to go to bed wherever you end up, drink as much water so that you feel sick going to bed because of it. It'll be horrible while you're doing it but the next day you'll be hangover-free.

It's too late for pre-emptive action. I already drank too much last night and didn't drink much water when I got in..... I need emergency panic advice! I'm sitting on the couch eating microwave popcorn now... seems to be helping! I've also sent the bf out for ingredients for a fry! (Apparently, i did behave myself when i got in last night!)

I get horrible hangovers too.....I find drinking a pint of water in between pints (or have a few pints of water towards the end of the night while you're out and have had enough vodka) helps and I take those revive sachets before I go to bed sometimes but I don't know if they work or not. I'm feeling your pain this morning too Watna.

Salty snacks help. They make you drink more water, which is what you should be doing.
Don't mistake thirst for hunger. A fry will only mess your (already delicate) stomach up.
Just drink plenty of water and eat light food in small servings.
Try drinking some coke too. Gives you a bit of energy. Then when you get the sugar crash, sleep for a couple of hours. You won't sleep for too long, because all the fluids you drank will make you need to take a leak and that will wake you up.

In future, just don't drink and do as I say, not as I do.

    I'm hungover too-woo!

Double Cheeseburger from McDonalds is my magic cure....gonna pop over to get one shortly. That and LOADS of water.

Ah drunken stupidity from last night....I didn't do anything too stupid*

*except call Rosanna Davison a dog, but I don't think she heard me, oops.

if you can stomach it (and not many can) a mixture of red bull and water. tastes horrible, but it give you the caffine and the h2o that you need.

I can never eat the next day, esp if I hit the beer, gives me heartburn. vodka however is my friend.

What i do if i have work in the morning is stay up until the effects of the drink wears off/nearly wears off.it's better going to work tired-ish than hungover and pissed off!

It's random, I hit the pub last night, dropped a few quid, had a lot of booze, went to bed at 5am, but woke up today feeling fine, after 5 hours sleep. Maybe I'm still drunk, but I've tidied my room and done some other stuff and feeling Text Book, hopefully I'm just having a freak "Lucky" post night out.

Thanks for all the advice fellow sufferers, but my hangover never arrived yesterday. I started to sober up, then I was sober with no hangover in between! It was a miracle!

    rehydration salts are the future.

I was away in africa for july and we brought a heap of them in case of dehydration etc, but after a night drinking, one of them will
    cure you completely.

Otherwise, two spoons of sugar and a spoon of salt in a glass of water. Or maybe it was two salts and one sugar, can't remember.

Be warned though, both taste like absolute ****e

Eat plenty before or during a booze sesion, 1-2 pints of water before going to bed, and have a can of Red Bull in the morning.

I totally agree - actually I normally drink a dioralyte (sp?) before going to bed after a big session. You don't notice the taste so much when you are three sheets to the wind and you need to drink something anyway to wash down the cheesy chips that are mandatory for that stage of the night.:D

the only way to avoid a hangover is to avoid getting drunk the night before but given its too late to do that!!

the trick with avoiding hangovers is dehydration. Its amplifies that hangover feeling. Therefore when drinking u shud sneak in some water/non alcoholic drink etc every now again. plus drink water before you go to bed. (just make sure you dont down it in 1 or you will piss it out of you.) Avoid ice cold water as you will just pee it too! try drink tepid or room temp water for best effect.

2 solpadine before bed and when you wake up. (any aspirin or paracetamol will do but as you need to mix with water, the liquid will also do good as per previous paragraph)

if u are really ill, make urself puke. It will take your attention off the sick feelin for a while and empty your guts!

eat a banana and try have a healthy breakfast, it will benefit you quicker and longer.

Paracetamol is best avoided (your liver will thank you).
