Think it's now safe to say the fps race is over.

If casio can do a 6MP@60fps and 300fps@vga resolution.

Say the next generation SLR's will be matching that or maybe even better.

With a frame rate like that, it's only a matter of time before someone decides to have an automatic "convert to HDR" button...

That sounds like a camcorder to me ,can't see a shutter that fast fitting into a bridge camera

The BBC use a Photron video camera for some of their wildlife stuff & it is capable of 1,000 fps.

It will all be based on an electronic shutter, now, someone work this out for me. At 60fps and six mega pixels how many minutes wil it take for me to fill up my 320gb hard drive?

assuming normal quality jpegs and a camera fast enough to compress them in real time, and enough light for the shutter speed to be fast enough... :)

say 1.8MB per image. A 320gb hard disk would get you about 300GB of usable storage. According to google calculator...
    (300 gigabytes) / (1.8 megabytes) = 170666.667 frames
    170666.667 / 60 fps = 2 844.44445 seconds

    2844 seconds / 1 hour (3600 seconds) = 0.79 hours
    i.e. 47.4 minutes

We're gonna need a bigger hard drive.

pfff, 300fps. thats nothing. Our high speed camera in work can take 512 by 512 pixel images at 5kHz. Bin it down to 512 by 4 pixels and it'll do 100kHz.
    Granted it's only monochrome tho!
