    Hi all,:)
i'm an italian softgunner who is planning to move to Dublin within the year.
I'm posting because i wanted to know about the regulations and about the teams/clubs in Ireland.;)

For what i could tell in reading some of the posts on this forum airsoft is something quite new in Ireland.
    Why is this?
    Where there laws against it?

    Thanks!

Before August 06 anything with a barrel was legall a gun, even a childs toy sucker gun or a nailgun. The sport is growing rapidly now. Welcome to boards:)

Even though its legal if under one joule, do you still have to have any form of paperwork or permissions for it?

Or can you just order one and away you go?

No paper work needed. But would be advisable to become a member of the IAA. They need all the help and members they can get and are there to look after our interests and be our voice.

    Welcome to Boards.

That's almost the same here but, why is it that in the UK I heared only about private sites?
Is it illegal to play in a wood or in abandond buildings?
    Are there any official tornaments/leagues?
    How many teams are there?
What do people say about it?

Yes it is ilegal unless its private land and you have premission.
    No tournaments yet.
    Err...... 4 or 5.

    Info on legality

Unfortunately due to the realism of the equipment, and how new the sport is to Ireland, people very often will get the wrong end of the stick.
At the moment there are two sites in the Republic, HRTA and Drogheda with I believe plans for one in Cork. Playing in abandoned buildings would not be advisable unless you have the permission of the owner as it is legally trespassing. The problem with playing in the woods is that you will always have people walking dogs or out for a stroll. Not the best idea to jump out of a bush and come face to face with a woman out walking her poodle. :) Not sure how many teams there are but am pretty sure there are no competitions set up yet.

Yes there is a team in Dublin. I think they are The Ghosts if I am not mistaken and they use this forum so maybe one of them can give you contact details. You will be close to HRTA in Dublin so will have plenty of opportunity to play.:D

Ask Crazyrabbit, he's a member of Na Taibshe(The Ghosts). They dont have a website that i know of. They're always at HRTA in swords, spot them by their digi-camo.

    Yup, that's the site alright.

I'm pretty much the only team member that wears digi-camo (digital woodland). Most of the team wear ACU, but I don't think it's suitable camo for HRTA.

Anyhow, before I get waaaaay off topic, there are 2 teams in the general Dublin area. Na Taibhse which is "The Ghosts" in the gaelic language, and The Stray Dogs which is based out of Bray.

During most games at HRTA, 2 teams are usually created at random. We normally don't have enough to play Team vs Team...at least not yet.

Just drop in to one of the sites on saturdays from around 10:30 and you'll find 20-30 of us playing. At the moment, HRTA in Swords is the biggest site. www.hrta.ie

As mentioned by the others, it's a good idea to join up with the IAA. They will soon by a representative body for airsofters in Ireland. There is info in the forum Stickies about them.

Well I did say "Most of them". :D

And besides, you are easy to miss. Personally I think it's the great camo you wear...makes you hard to see.
