    Alright peoples,
Comin to Galway and I'm looking for a nice bar or bars to spend Saturday night in with my lady. I would like nice music and a bit of space. Too much to ask? I'm 30 not 18 and like all sorts of music but chart and techno are not my cuppa.
    Muchos appreciatos.

buskers, the quays, front door, neachtains, dew drop inn, basically any of these pubs are good, get mostly late twenties crowds, mixture of old and young.
All these pubs are on quay st, cross st area so only a few metres to walk or stumble to each!!;)

Dont think the OP is going to get any space in these pubs on a Saturday night,he'll be lucky to get space anywhere on a Saturday night.

Arus na nGael ftw. Good craic, no "shirts & skirts". Just good people and you can sit outside. Ask anyone for Dominic street.

Actually, Bazaar is a good suggestion.

STAY DOWN THE WEST. The Roisin Dubh is open late and often has good music and a great smoking section. The Blue Note is chilled and usually has great music too, but it gets a bit smelly cos of the seeming lack of understanding of the smoking ban! And Massimos pretends to be a little upmarket and gets a bit busy at weekends but has the soundest bar staff and a great new latina vibe goin on (cant remember if thats Fri or Sat though)

There's number 8 ... on the docks .. which I didn't really think that much of ... was missing something for me ...

I've not been into sheridans on the docks .. but its meant to be nice as well for a pint ...

Mmmmm space on a Saturday night..maybe Spanish Arch Hotel ? On Quay street and has decent music and should be relatively comfortable.

Other than that The Cottage in Salthill , Massimos , Roisins in the Beer Garden..Bierhouse is always good too.

Finding space on sat night will be tricky. Aras na nGael or The Crane are good bets if you like trad. Music in the Blue Note, Roisin Dubh and Bierhaus is also decent but these spots will get pretty crowded.

Bazaar, Buskers/The Slate House, The kings head is brilliant when there's a good band on like KIF (Thin Lizzie Covers etc) usually on a Thurs but I've lived out of Galway for a few months. Uhmmm Bar 903, The Living Room is my favourite, late opening (2am) on weekends, cheap beers, great cocktails and a DJ...people make use of the floorspace as a dancefloor, love it. I always have weird experiences there tho (brrrr), there's always creepy turkish and other foreign lads perving on me.

Don't go to Tosh cause everyones segregated into snugs, what's the point going to socialise in a bar if you're all cut off from each other-bit antisocial.

    The Bierhaus
    The Roisin Dubh
    The Blue note

All have an older crowd and excellent music. You can start out in the bierhaus or the blue note and move on to the roisin due to their late license.

McSwiggans has a nice crowd at the weekend - not too packed
Other than that, Im a fan of Garveys & Freeneys, both have good beer and nice crowds
