FTP - Rename multiple remote files

Stupid problem. I can only rename a single file at a time e.g. rename a.csv a.done however I want to be able to do something more along the lines rename *.csv *.done Hope this is clear. This is being done on the remote machine. Both the client and the ftp server are unix machines I'm tearing my hair out here!
