Righteo, I'm moving up to Galway on Sunday to start my post-grad in NUIG. Problem is I've never actually been to Galway (Well, I have, once, for an hour!!) so I'm pretty much going to spend the first week or two getting lost. I'm staying in Dunaras on Bishop O' Donnell Road. What bus can I get from Eyre Sq. to Dunaras or near enough to it? Also, is there a bus I can get from Dunaras to NUIG? I would check the Bus Eireann website but I don't know the names of any of the areas. Hope someone can help!!

Dunaras is at least a 20 minute walk(even though the website says 15 min!) from campus and as The_Dazzler says a bike is better, cheaper and usually faster during traffic.

Bus No. 5 (Rahoon) goes from the east side of Eyre Square past NUIG to Dunaras and returns.

    Click on No. 5

Right, I don't actually do bikes since my Dad made me cycle around Central Park. I don't mind walking, but when it's raining heavily I don't see the point in getting soaked. Also, my boyfriend has informed me that he will not visit unless he can get a bus to Dunaras (lazy git!!). Thanks for the info....I'm sure I'll find my way around somehow.

Just wondering about the buses not being reliable in Galway.....the number 5 seems to pass by every 20 minutes or so. (No, I'm not watching, we just have very large windows and I have very few lectures!) Is this considered bad in Galway? Of course, I wont be getting on any buses until I figure out which direction I'm supposed to be going in!!

Ah yes but the postgrads have their own little area outside of the main 'village'.
